Destiny is located in the heart of Florida’s honey bee industry. Florida ranks third in U.S. honey production. Aside from a healthy production of honey from our very own Florida Citrus groves that produce some of Florida’s most delicious fruit, our Destiny honey bees graze on Saw Palmetto, Golden Rod, Elderberry and an array of other wild flowers. Our farm of 500 hives creates much more than honey. Other products include Royal Jelly, propolis and beeswax used in beauty, therapeutic products and candles and the finest quality furniture wax.

Honey bees contribute to our world a great deal beyond sweet tasting honey. Bees are considered to be the most “economically valuable pollinators of agricultural crops worldwide,” according to a U.S. Congressional Research Service Report released last year.

Without honey bees, it would be difficult to grow crops. One researcher says we can thank a bee for every third bite of the fruits and vegetables we consume. Einstein even weighed in on these little creatures when he said if they ever went extinct, so would mankind.

Bees have unfortunately suffered from what many researchers consider side effects of climate change. Mites attacking colonies and “colony collapse disorder” are just a few of the maladies suffered in the past few years. However, there is good news! Honey bee colonies are on the rise again and seem to be recovering.
